Role Overview

This position sits within the Engineering team and focuses on materials and manufacturing processes for composite aircraft structures. The role covers material qualification, development and validation of wet layup and bonding methods, and ensuring quality from material selection through certification and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Choose, qualify and approve materials for aerospace use, including CFRP/GFRP, adhesives, core materials and metals.
  • Develop, improve and validate production processes, especially wet layup, bonding and surface preparation/treatment.
  • Write, update and control material and process specifications as well as work instructions.
  • Manage material and process nonconformities, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with part and process qualification in the context of type certification under EASA Part 21.
  • Coordinate and assess destructive testing and non-destructive testing activities.
  • Work closely with Design, Production, Quality Assurance and Procurement teams.

Requirements

  • Degree in materials engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, or a related discipline; alternatively, technical training plus relevant professional experience.
  • Solid understanding of composite materials and how they are manufactured.
  • Prior exposure to aviation or another regulated environment such as AS9100 or EASA Part 21 is advantageous.
  • Independent, structured and analytical approach with a strong focus on quality.
  • Proficiency in both German and English.
