About IZI Ventures

IZI Ventures is the defence and strategic systems division of IZI, based in Bhopal. The team develops unmanned aerial systems for the Indian armed forces, paramilitary organisations, and government bodies. Its technology focus includes GPS-denied navigation, communications that can withstand jamming, and autonomous flight. The parent group’s consumer electronics business supports the venture with manufacturing capability, supply-chain strength, and financial backing, while the defence business is positioned as a key growth area aligned with Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The Role

This position is for the technical owner of the overall aircraft architecture. You will be responsible for keeping the full system aligned while individual specialists handle their respective subsystems. The role covers requirements ownership, interface management, and integration sequencing, along with maintaining configuration consistency as the platform changes over time.

Key Ownership Areas

  • Maintain the VANA system baseline, including requirements, subsystem interfaces, and configuration control.
  • Coordinate interfaces across airframe, avionics, navigation, datalinks, payloads, and software so that the complete aircraft functions as intended.
  • Plan the integration order and system-level testing approach in line with the demonstration schedule.
  • Support system trade studies and technical decision-making, including stepping in for the Chief Engineer when required.
  • Prepare and manage system documentation such as requirements traceability records, interface control documents, and configuration logs.
  • Serve as the technical point of coordination across all engineering functions.

Required Experience and Background

The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of systems engineering experience working on complex multidisciplinary hardware such as aerospace, defence, UAV, or robotics platforms. You should have already owned a system-level technical baseline covering requirements, interfaces, and configuration. A strong working understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software domains is needed to evaluate system interactions and resolve interface issues. You should also have experience taking a multidisciplinary system through integration and testing.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology is mandatory, and a Master’s degree is preferred. Additional advantages include formal systems engineering training, familiarity with INCOSE practices, experience with UAV or aircraft systems, hands-on exposure to requirements management and configuration management tools, and readiness to progress toward a Chief Engineer role. A background from a premium institute or organisations such as DRDO, HAL, or ADE will also be considered a plus.
