About the Role

Join a long-established African banking group with more than a century of heritage and a strong blend of local market understanding, regional reach, and international experience. This role is an opportunity to help shape how the organization communicates internally, supports its people, and advances its culture and strategic priorities.

The Internal Communications Manager will partner closely with senior leaders and business teams to ensure messages are clear, consistent, and aligned to the bank’s direction. The role focuses on building and delivering well-crafted internal communication plans that meet quality expectations, stay within budget, and follow corporate branding standards. You will help turn group and local business strategies into practical communication programs that connect employees, processes, and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert Absa Bank Botswana’s strategy into a practical internal communications plan that brings people, processes, and working methods into alignment with the business agenda.
  • Lead the creation and day-to-day management of innovative internal communication channels and campaigns, ensuring they are produced, delivered, maintained, and reviewed to a high standard, within approved budgets, and in line with the corporate identity.
  • Support executives in a business-partner capacity by strengthening colleague engagement and helping employees understand business priorities that drive performance and target achievement.
  • Build and maintain strong two-way communication with target audiences to encourage continuous feedback and dialogue.
  • Act as the main coordination point for internal communications between Absa Botswana and the wider Absa Group, ensuring timely alignment and communication when needed.
  • Develop and roll out an internal communications strategy that supports business objectives while managing the main communication channels.
  • Create and execute employee engagement initiatives and strengthen leadership communication through digital and in-person channels, while reinforcing feedback loops and the bank’s employer brand.
  • Support employee volunteering programmes by encouraging participation through compelling stories and targeted internal messaging.
  • Advise executives and department leaders on strategic initiatives, change efforts, and broader transformation programmes.
  • Prepare stakeholder engagement plans and structured communication frameworks that improve coordination and delivery across the organization.
  • Produce strong internal content and integrated communication campaigns that consistently reflect the bank’s brand across all internal messages.
