About the role
Hind Management is looking for a friendly and service-focused Guest Services Agent / Porter to join its Christchurch hotel team. This position suits someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in delivering excellent guest experiences, and works well with others.
The role involves front desk guest service along with occasional porter responsibilities and support across other hotel areas when required. The roster includes varied shifts across weekdays, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is essential.
This is a part-time role with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. The pay rate is $26 per hour.
What you will do
- Provide a warm, efficient front office experience and help ensure guests leave satisfied.
- Work closely with Housekeeping to keep daily hotel operations running smoothly.
- Protect the confidentiality of guest and employee information at all times.
- Help support occupancy and average rate goals by following guidance from the Duty Manager.
- Follow security procedures related to cash handling, guest belongings, and incident reporting.
- Carry out emergency procedures correctly to protect guests and team members.
- Maintain current knowledge of room types and hotel layout.
- Answer phone enquiries and make sure guest requests are passed on and resolved with the right departments.
- Recognise VIP guests and deliver the expected level of service.
- Know the local area well, including amenities, transport options, medical facilities, and emergency contacts, so you can guide guests accurately.
- Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Complete porter duties from time to time and assist in other hotel areas as needed.

- NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification, or at least one year of relevant experience as a substitute for formal qualifications.
- At least 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
