Role summary
The Lead TFA, after completing level III competency requirements, will help direct site operations by planning, organizing, integrating, and tracking labor, tools, and technical support needed to finish the assigned scope in line with contract terms. The role involves making decisions within defined guidelines, handling complex technical situations, and resolving issues quickly or through short-term planning at customer power plants.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and carry out site activities, including coordinating the work of the team.
- Install systems and equipment on site, then continue with preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibration after installation.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair and service needs for problematic equipment.
- Guide customer teams on installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance procedures.
- Complete administrative tasks such as technical documentation, material orders, quotations, job progress updates, customer reports, timesheets, and expense forms in a timely and accurate manner.
- Approve and sign off on all changes.
- Support customer satisfaction through a strong commitment to service delivery.
- Follow GE safety standards and maintain a strong safety-focused approach in all work performed.
- Use troubleshooting skills to perform routine checks and maintenance across a broad range of equipment vintages.
- Coach, mentor, and train other team members to strengthen field engineering and product knowledge.
- Prepare accurate technical reports for customer records and future outage reference.
- Confirm that all required job parts are shipped to the site.
- Carry out walk-downs during installation to verify that customer contractors are working correctly.
- Perform aftermarket upgrades at the site as needed.
- Be available to work holidays, weekends, and overtime when field assignments require it.
- Travel extensively to and from projects and other field assignments.
- Take on additional duties as needed to support FieldCore’s vision and values.
Required qualifications
- A technical or university degree, or equivalent experience; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of experience in a field services role.
- At least 7 years of experience in field services or power generation equipment maintenance.
- Completion of the required level III training programs.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical flow diagrams, instrumentation drawings, dial and laser alignment data, and thermal growth equipment.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively for project and field work.
- English language proficiency.
Preferred background
- Experience at an advanced level with the ability to supervise field service work and provide mentorship or team leadership.
- Exposure to Alstom, Siemens, or other OEM equipment.
- Prior experience in field engineering services.
- Strong planning and project coordination capabilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Business awareness and the ability to present GE products effectively to customers.
