Founding Product Designer

About the Role

This is the company’s first dedicated design hire for an early-stage neurotechnology startup. There is no existing design system or style guide to inherit, so the role starts by creating those foundations from the ground up. You will partner directly with the founding team and take ownership of the entire product design experience, from early idea exploration through to delivered product. The business is creating a new category within cognitive health, which means the design language is still being defined. Your work will help shape both the product and the way it is experienced.

Key Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of the product design process, from concept work through production release.
• Create and maintain the design system and visual style foundations for a new product category.
• Validate design concepts with real users and refine them based on feedback and observed behavior.
• Deliver production-ready designs that remain effective as the product grows.
• Collaborate closely with the founders on product direction and strategic decisions.
• Offer strong design judgment and challenge ideas when they do not meet the right standard.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate brings startup experience, a product mindset, and the ability to design beyond individual screens. You should be comfortable building from scratch, thinking strategically, and contributing as a core member of the team.

• At least 2 years of design experience at an early-stage consumer startup.
• A demonstrated history of shipping complete apps from initial concept to finished product, rather than only creating components, marketing pages, or isolated screens.
• Hands-on experience creating and maintaining design systems, not just passing along files for implementation.
• A product-oriented mindset with the ability to influence what gets built, not only how it is visually presented.
• Prior experience as part of a core team building products from the ground up.
• Preferred exposure to voice-enabled, AI-driven, or ambient product design.
• Preferred background designing consumer health, fitness, or wearable products.
