Facility Lead

Role overview

This position is for a Facility Lead in Chennai with Aptiv. The role centers on leading the facilities function, coordinating vendors and internal teams, protecting production continuity, and ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and within budget. Key responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day running of the facilities department and act as the main stakeholder for all related activities.
• Work with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors to deliver all project commitments on time.
• Track, review, and report project finances to stay within budget and, where possible, improve performance against plan.
• Control utility and facility costs while meeting the required cost metrics.
• Ensure facility-related issues do not interrupt production.
• Deliver on all facility KPIs and performance targets.
• Lead predictive maintenance efforts and keep preventive maintenance, fault reports, and corrective work orders under close control.
• Coordinate with external agencies for new initiatives, major repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Manage site administration functions such as security, transportation, housekeeping, and canteen services while controlling their costs.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards and statutory requirements.
• Oversee addition and alteration work, repair and redecoration projects, and other site improvement jobs.
• Drive process improvements across assigned projects to improve productivity and support bottom-line growth.
• Take initiative in solving operational problems and introduce practical improvements.
• Plan and monitor project and budget spending.
• Follow all health and safety requirements defined by EHS and applicable government regulations.
• Promote plant-wide energy conservation and environmental management initiatives.
• Support manufacturing operations as a top priority.
• Handle internal and external customers professionally while meeting environmental, health, and security obligations.

Candidate profile

• Must hold a BE in EEE and a valid C License.
• Should have 10 to 15 years of experience in industrial facility management.
• At least 3 years of experience should be in a managerial capacity.
• Should understand safe work procedures and related compliance requirements.
• Strong team leadership and people management ability is important.
• Good written communication and presentation skills will be an advantage.
• Should bring a creative, analytical, and proactive mindset.
• Should be familiar with digital systems and tools used in facilities management.
