About the Company
Located in Gisborne, Pultron Composites is a globally recognised manufacturer specialising in pultrusion technology. The company produces advanced composite solutions for infrastructure, industrial, and construction customers around the world and has earned a strong export reputation through dependable engineering quality.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take ownership of an integrated engineering group of around 20 people. The team covers design, maintenance, electrical/PLC, CNC, tooling, and workshop activities. This position is designed to strengthen coordination, improve maintenance discipline, and ensure engineering delivery is consistent and aligned with manufacturing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and align the engineering team across all functions and specialisms.
- Set up and maintain structured preventative maintenance systems.
- Strengthen planning, prioritisation, and execution of engineering tasks and projects.
- Manage equipment installation, commissioning, and transition into production.
- Coordinate engineering-related purchasing and cut down on emergency buying.
- Support ongoing improvement in efficiency, responsiveness, and productivity.
- Partner with Operations, Production Managers, and the senior leadership team to keep engineering priorities in step with manufacturing goals.
Skills and Experience
Applicants should bring prior leadership experience in engineering, maintenance, or technical operations within a manufacturing setting. Strong planning and organisational ability is essential, along with a history of improving accountability and delivery within teams. Experience developing or enhancing preventative maintenance programmes is important, as is familiarity with equipment installation, commissioning, and manufacturing handover processes. Exposure to industrial manufacturing, automation, or equipment-build environments will be highly regarded, and an engineering qualification would be an advantage.
What’s In It For You
This is a practical leadership opportunity with significant room to create impact. Pultron is a technically strong business with an expanding international presence, and engineering plays a central role in its success. You’ll have responsibility for the function, direct access to the CEO, and a clear brief to improve reliability and team delivery. If you’re a hands-on engineering leader looking to build a better operation, this role deserves attention.
