Role Overview
The Consultant for CTVS will be responsible for delivering independent clinical care for both scheduled and emergency cases. The position also involves guiding junior staff, supporting quality initiatives, coordinating patient care, and contributing to the overall functioning of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent care for both elective and emergency patients.
- Train and mentor OT nurses, technicians, and ICU staff.
- Take part actively in CMEs, journal clubs, and conferences.
- Make sure all technical staff in the OT and ICU follow MHC protocols.
- Handle patient complaints and support resolution.
- Perform treatments, procedures, and surgeries within the clinical privileges approved by the privileging committee.
- Create duty rosters for junior doctors and ensure work is distributed fairly across the team.
- Assign the most suitable junior doctor to support consultant ward rounds.
- Ensure patients are reviewed daily by arranging doctor visits across shifts.
- Cover staffing gaps and manage absences so minimum team strength is maintained.
- Encourage team participation in training programs and CMEs whenever needed.
- Approve and coordinate patient discharges in line with hospital policies and rules.
- Build and implement continuous quality improvement systems in specialty care delivery.
- Contribute to the work of professional associations.
- Conduct or oversee organized research work in the department where appropriate.
- Support Fortis healthcare services through lectures, camps, and public/practitioner awareness activities.
- Maintain administrative oversight of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff under supervision and work with management to improve service delivery.
