Role Overview

A respected construction business in Whitstable, Kent is hiring a well-organized and proactive Store Logistics Operative to support the Procurement and Joinery Manager. This position suits someone with prior experience in stores, warehouse, or logistics work who enjoys a busy construction setting and values accurate stock handling and smooth operations.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will oversee the everyday running of the stores area, making sure materials, tools, and equipment are received, stored, and issued correctly. You will help keep materials flowing to construction sites and the joinery workshop so work can continue without delays.

You will work alongside procurement staff, project managers, site teams, and transport providers to ensure all incoming and outgoing stock movements are tracked properly and projects remain on schedule.

Core Duties

• Run the stores function on a day-to-day basis.
• Check, receive, and accurately log all incoming deliveries.
• Pick, prepare, and issue materials, tools, and equipment to sites and the joinery workshop.
• Monitor stock levels through routine counts and inventory checks.
• Store materials safely and keep the area clean, orderly, and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Arrange deliveries and pickups with external transport partners.
• Keep reliable records of goods received, goods issued, and stock movements using internal systems.
• Work closely with procurement, project, and site teams so materials are available when needed.
• Escalate shortages, damage, or stock discrepancies without delay.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics position, ideally within construction or manufacturing. Experience handling goods-in and goods-out processes is important, along with strong attention to detail and solid organizational ability.

Good communication skills are essential, as you’ll need to interact confidently with colleagues and outside stakeholders. You should also be comfortable using IT systems, including stock management or procurement tools, and be able to contribute effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Experience

It would be beneficial to have used Microsoft Dynamics NAV or another ERP platform. Familiarity with construction materials or joinery products would also be an advantage. A forklift licence is desirable, though the employer is open to someone willing to obtain one.

Employment Details

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Whitstable, Kent. The salary is £30,000, with pay described as competitive and dependent on experience.
