Role overview
The Esquire House in Glasgow is seeking a Cleaner to help maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness across the pub. The focus of the role is to keep all guest-facing and back-of-house areas spotless so customers enjoy a better overall experience.
This is a good fit for someone who is dependable, approachable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a busy environment. Prior experience is not required, as full training is provided. The employer values a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to stay calm when things are hectic.
Pay and benefits
The wage offered is £12.91 per hour. Additional benefits include a free meal and drink while on shift, a 20% discount on food, drinks, and hotel stays for you and up to three guests when off duty, and an extra £1 per hour for hours worked between midnight and 5:59 am. The package also includes a bonus scheme with earnings of up to 19% of pay, paid holiday, free shares after a qualifying period, a loyalty reward scheme, and the option of guaranteed-hours or variable-hours contracts.
Working pattern
The role is part of a venue that opens early and closes late, so flexibility across mornings, evenings, weekends, and late finishes is important. The weekly schedule shown is 6 hours per week, with shifts listed from 7:00 to 11:00 on Monday through Sunday.
Key duties
Your main responsibility will be to clean all areas of the pub thoroughly and consistently. The job also involves following set cleaning procedures, using products and equipment safely, keeping an eye on stock levels of supplies, and reporting maintenance or pest-related concerns to the manager on duty. Friendly and polite customer interaction is also part of the role.
Training and development
Full induction and role-specific training are provided, along with ongoing refreshers and improvement support. The employer also offers development routes such as structured on-the-job learning, apprenticeships, management academies, cross-training in other areas, and opportunities to move into team leader or shift leader positions over time.
Additional information
The workplace promotes an inclusive environment where people from all backgrounds are welcome. This position may not be suitable for candidates under 18 because of the shift pattern and periods of lone working. If application numbers are high, the vacancy may close before the listed closing date of 04-07-2026. Job reference: 657990.
