Pay

Remuneration is aligned to the HSE Consolidated Pay Scale for Care Assistant (Intellectual Disability Agency) (February 2026). The annual salary range is €34,536 to €47,954.

Working pattern

This is a full-time opportunity on a shift rota. The schedule includes evenings, overnight sleepovers and weekends.

Key duties

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred assistance that reflects each individual's needs, preferences and goals.
  • Work as a key worker and help create, carry out and review individual support plans.

Requirements

  • QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare, with all 8 modules completed.
  • Experience in intellectual disability or autism services is an advantage.
  • Previous work in a person-centred environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support and low-arousal approaches is beneficial.
  • Understanding of the key worker role and the principles of supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Awareness of the Health Act 2007, HIQA, National Standards and related regulatory requirements.
  • Good understanding of person-centred and human-rights-based approaches.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Capacity to use initiative, solve problems and work independently when needed.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Sound organisational and IT skills.
  • Full, clean Irish driving licence.
