Role overview

GJNH is looking for motivated and enthusiastic radiographers to join its Radiology team. Both newly qualified and more experienced professionals are encouraged to apply.

The department supports essential waiting-time imaging for health boards across NHS Scotland, along with specialist services for the West of Scotland Cardiothoracic Centre and inpatient imaging for the NHS Golden Jubilee site. Facilities include 4 MRI scanners, 3 CT scanners, 5 cardiac catheterisation labs, 4 X-ray rooms, 1 DEXA scanner, 1 dual-purpose X-ray/fluoroscopy room, plus multiple image intensifiers and mobile units. The department also hosts the National Ultrasound Training Programme.

Main duties

This post is based in the Plain Film imaging area and involves X-ray, DEXA and fluoroscopy work for both inpatients and outpatients. The caseload is varied and engaging, with ongoing clinical supervision and continuing professional development support.

You will be expected to authorise and carry out radiographic examinations, deliver direct patient care, and help maintain a high-quality diagnostic service focused on patient needs. There may also be limited exposure and training opportunities in Cardiac Cath Lab, MRI or CT scanning.

The role forms part of a multidisciplinary environment supporting specialist cardio-thoracic services including the Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service (SACCS), Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit (SPVU), Scottish National Acute Heart Failure Service (SNAFS), and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), as well as a major orthopaedic service. The organisation also offers a strong environment for research and innovation.

Working pattern and flexibility

There is an expectation to work across a 7-day schedule with extended hours, so flexibility is important. Rotation across different imaging modalities will depend on prior experience and service requirements. Full training in specialist imaging protocols will be provided after appointment, and CPD plus clinical supervision will continue on an ongoing basis.

Additional information

Flexible working arrangements may be considered for this position. The vacancy could be withdrawn early if applications are received in high volume, so early submission is recommended.

The organisation is committed to an inclusive and accessible recruitment process. Candidates with a disability or long-term health condition covered by the Equality Act 2010 can request support during any stage of recruitment; further details are available in the job pack.

Applications are welcomed from all communities, and the organisation is proud of its diverse workforce and inclusive culture. Recruitment contact details are provided in the job pack.
