Associate Data Scientist

About the Role

Why Hiring is looking for an Associate Data Scientist to help drive better decisions through data across its products and day-to-day operations. This is a full-time remote position focused on turning raw information into actionable insights that improve user experience, job matching quality, and overall platform performance.

In this role, you will work with data from different sources, prepare and analyze it, build and maintain reports and dashboards, and help validate ideas through experimentation and statistical testing. You will also partner with product, marketing, and operations teams to define questions, interpret results, and present findings in a way that supports practical business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and useful insights.
• Support the creation and assessment of predictive and classification models.
• Contribute to data cleaning, feature creation, and model validation work.
• Use statistical methods to address operational and business questions.
• Build analytical outputs that help guide strategic decisions.
• Develop charts, dashboards, and presentations that communicate results clearly.
• Assist with experimentation, hypothesis testing, and performance tracking.
• Help deploy and monitor data science solutions after implementation.
• Work with technical teams to improve access to data and make it easier to use.
• Stay updated on new developments in machine learning, analytics, and data science.

Required Qualifications

• Solid grounding in data science and applied statistics for modeling and evidence-based analysis.
• Strong ability in data analysis and data preparation, including cleaning and transforming complex datasets.
• Experience creating data visualizations and reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Practical knowledge of tools and languages such as Python or R, SQL, and common data science libraries.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Economics, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Ability to explain analytical findings clearly in writing and in conversation.
• Comfort working independently in a remote setup while coordinating with distributed teams.
• Interest in the future of work, remote hiring, and marketplace or platform products; experience in tech or staffing environments is an added advantage.
