Role overview
District Wharf Properties, LLC is hiring an Accounting Assistant to join the accounting function supporting The District Wharf, a 3.2 million square foot mixed-use destination on the Potomac River. The property includes retail, multifamily housing, office, hotel, maritime, and entertainment components. This role also supports the DC office on a day-to-day basis.
What you'll do
- Help complete month-end close activities for multiple entities within The Wharf portfolio.
- Reconcile bank accounts across a wide set of accounts.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable work, including uploading and coding invoices and preparing monthly billing statements.
- Deposit checks into multiple bank accounts.
- Provide general administrative assistance to the accounting team.
- Support office operations in Washington, DC, including handling supplies, welcoming visitors, and taking on ad hoc tasks as needed.
- Sort, manage, and route incoming and outgoing mail accurately and on time.
- Take on additional assignments and projects as needed.
What the employer is looking for
Applicants should have either a degree or prior experience in a professional office environment. Strong skills in Microsoft Office are required, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, accurate, organized, able to work independently, and comfortable handling a busy workload in a fast-moving setting. This position requires the candidate to be based in the Washington, DC area and to work onsite at The Wharf 4 to 5 days per week.
Physical requirements

Compensation and benefits
The salary range is $60,000 to $65,000 per year.
