This opportunity is with Vortex, a specialist contractor focused on CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) rehabilitation. The role is based in a safety-led, fast-moving environment with strong support for training and professional development.

Role Overview

The Yardman will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the yard and operational facilities. This is a practical, hands-on position that keeps the yard safe, orderly, and efficient so vehicles, plant, tools, equipment, and materials are ready to support project work across the South of the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the yard clean, well-organised, and safe to work in.
• Handle the loading and unloading of vehicles, materials, and equipment.
• Get plant, tools, and equipment ready for operational use.
• Check vehicles, equipment, and other assets for damage, faults, or defects.
• Monitor stock levels for materials, consumables, and PPE.
• Carry out everyday yard maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Support deliveries, collections, and other logistics activities.
• Store equipment safely and in the correct location.
• Assist with vehicle and plant inspections, servicing schedules, and related records.
• Use forklifts and yard equipment when appropriately qualified.
• Separate and dispose of waste in line with company procedures.
• Help operational teams with mobilisation and demobilisation needs.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures.
• Act professionally while representing the company at all times.

Requirements

• Some prior experience in a yard, warehouse, logistics, construction, or operational support setting.
• A solid understanding of safe working methods.
• Comfort with manual handling and physically demanding tasks.
• A dependable work ethic and positive attitude.
• The ability to work on your own as well as within a team.
• Good organisation and strong attention to detail.
• Basic communication and record-keeping ability.
• A flexible mindset to meet changing operational needs.
• Forklift licence preferred but not essential.
• Experience in construction, utilities, drainage, or infrastructure is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, onsite role based in East Sussex, England, United Kingdom. The position involves regular physical work and support across yard operations and project mobilisation activities.
