About Carter’s Inc.

Carter’s Inc. serves families with young children and stands as the largest apparel retailer in North America dedicated exclusively to babies and young children. Its portfolio includes Carter’s, OshKosh B’gosh, Skip*Hop, and Little Planet. The company emphasizes meaningful work, continuous learning, a people-first culture, and a workplace guided by values that support inclusion and innovation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a driven UX Designer with an entrepreneurial outlook who is comfortable working through ambiguity to shape fresh digital experiences for some of the most meaningful purchases parents make for their children. This position sits within the eCommerce team, which is focused on redesigning digital journeys to reduce everyday friction and create smoother, more enjoyable shopping experiences.

The successful candidate will combine creativity with a customer-first mindset to develop solutions that serve both user needs and business goals. You should have a strong history of partnering with Product and Engineering teams to turn strategy and requirements into delivered experiences. Across the full design lifecycle, you will rely on strong design judgment, curiosity about technology, and the determination to refine ideas beyond the obvious.

This position reports to the Director, UX/UI and is based in Atlanta in a hybrid work setup.

Responsibilities

Creating new digital experiences will account for the majority of this role, supported by design development and communication responsibilities.

  • Dig into problems until the underlying cause is clear, then shape intuitive, accessible, and effective experience concepts that support business metrics.
  • Seek out customer insights through VOC, usability studies, A/B testing, customer replays, and Adobe Analytics to anticipate future needs.
  • Use metrics and user behavior data to guide design choices and improve outcomes.
  • Track relevant industry patterns that affect customer behavior and translate those learnings into the shopping journey.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Merchandising, and Planning to understand business priorities while solving customer problems holistically.
  • Independently develop sketches, concepts, wireframes, user flows, and prototypes quickly to communicate the intended customer experience.
  • Run qualitative usability research and quantitative experiments to validate directions and align designs with customer expectations.
  • Create polished layouts with thoughtful spacing and visual hierarchy so users can easily understand available actions.
  • Apply the design system, or create new components when needed, to improve the handoff between design and development.
  • Prepare detailed specifications and connected user flows that span multiple user stories.
  • Guide technical content so that product language matches user thinking and improves comprehension of Carter’s offerings.
  • Use micro-animations aligned with best practices to support and direct users through digital interactions.
  • Present and defend design decisions clearly to peers and leadership.
  • Break larger feature ideas into a practical MVP that delivers near-term value.
  • Communicate across Merchandising, Product, and Engineering to align teams and secure the support needed to execute the vision.
  • Advocate for users while balancing business constraints, and clearly explain trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Share concise updates with eCommerce leadership to gather feedback and build support.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in UX/UI design, with hands-on use of UX methods such as user flows, wireframing, visual design, and prototyping to build complete experiences.
  • Working knowledge of design tools including Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Miro, Principle, and similar platforms.
  • Ability to use data, customer feedback, and performance metrics as inputs for design decisions and iteration.
  • Strong prioritization skills in a fast-moving environment with multiple competing demands.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, especially with Merchandising, Product Management, and Engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance specific user needs with larger business goals.
  • Ability to champion user needs while navigating organizational constraints and trade-offs.
  • Equal opportunity commitment applies to all qualified applicants regardless of protected characteristics.

Compensation

The expected pay range for this position is $86,000 to $138,000, depending on skills and experience.

Equal Opportunity

Carter’s is committed to maintaining a diverse workplace and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.
