About the Role
Firehouse Subs, a brand started by firefighter founders, serves substantial, flavor-rich subs in a friendly, team-oriented setting. The Oakville location is looking for an energetic and dependable Team Member who enjoys working with people and can keep pace in a busy food service setting.
This role is a hands-on restaurant position focused on sandwich preparation, guest service, cleanliness, and teamwork. Candidates should bring a strong service mindset, reliability, and a commitment to doing quality work every shift.
Food Preparation
- Build sandwiches and subs according to recipes and individual customer requests.
- Cut meats and vegetables as required while keeping ingredients fresh and consistent.
- Handle daily prep tasks, including preparing meats and produce for service.
- Use proper portion sizes and presentation standards to help maintain product quality.
Customer Service
- Greet and assist guests with prompt, courteous, and attentive service.
- Recommend menu items and add-ons when appropriate to improve the customer experience.
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately for order entry and payment processing.
- Address customer issues in a professional and timely manner.
Sanitation and Cleanliness
- Keep food prep areas, dining spaces, washrooms, and equipment clean and orderly.
- Follow food safety and sanitation rules, including correct storage and labeling practices.
- Carry out dishwashing and general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing.
Teamwork and Time Management
- Coordinate with coworkers to keep service running smoothly during rush periods.
- Stay organized and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-moving environment.
- Support inventory checks and alert management when supplies are getting low.
Qualifications
Prior experience in either food service or customer service is required. Strong communication and people skills are important, and basic math along with POS experience is a plus. The role also calls for the ability to juggle tasks under pressure and work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Schedule Information
Morning shifts usually run from 9:00 AM–9:30 AM to 2:00 PM–3:00 PM, or from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM–5:00 PM. Evening shifts typically start at 4:30 PM–5:00 PM and may finish anywhere between 8:00 PM and 12:00 AM, depending on business needs. Availability on weekdays and weekends is necessary, as is availability on holidays. Candidates must be able to work at least four days per week.
Additional Requirements
Applicants should live in Oakville or a nearby area. A current availability schedule must be included on the resume, as applications missing this information will not be considered. A real interest in restaurant work is expected. Having access to reliable transportation is an advantage, especially for evening shifts.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay is offered at $17.60 to $18.20 per hour, depending on experience.

Experience and Certification
A minimum of 1 year of food service experience is required. Food Handler Certification is preferred.
