Role overview
Muiríosa Foundation is hiring a permanent part-time Support Worker for Kolbe Pre-School in Portlaoise. The role is for 50 hours per fortnight and follows a Monday to Friday roster. Kolbe Pre-School is an established setting that provides sessional care for children with additional and complex needs.
The organisation is seeking someone who has a strong interest in education and childcare for children with higher support needs. The ideal person will be committed, open to sharing knowledge, and equally willing to learn from others. This post suits a person with excellent observation and communication abilities who brings warmth, energy, and a positive attitude, and who can contribute meaningfully to the children’s lives.
Working pattern
Permanent part-time position covering 50 hours per fortnight, with work scheduled Monday to Friday.

Essential requirements
- A FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Childcare, or another qualification recognised under the DCEDIY list of approved qualifications.
- Previous experience supporting children with intellectual disability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive, energetic approach and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A current Irish driving licence for a manual vehicle.
- Basic IT capability, including use of email, Word documents, and other systems.
- Suitability for the role as described in the role introduction.
