Role Overview

This Darwin-based position is responsible for coordinating and supporting the delivery of fit out and finishes packages on construction projects. The role suits someone who is comfortable working across documentation, site coordination, subcontractor management, and quality oversight in a busy construction environment.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate will have either formal qualifications in construction or a related field at tertiary or certificate level, or at least 5 years of directly relevant experience. You should have handled fit out and finishes work on commercial or residential projects valued at $10M+ and understand the detail behind drawings, specifications, and finish-related scope requirements.

Strong technical knowledge of fit out systems and materials is important, particularly in areas such as flooring, joinery, cladding, and ceiling systems. You should also be experienced in coordinating subcontractors and site activities, with a solid grasp of safety, quality control, and compliance obligations on construction sites.

Attention to detail is essential, especially when managing documents, reports, checklists, and site records. Clear communication and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and other stakeholders are also key to success in this role.

Key Duties

In this role, you will work closely with the Project Manager and Senior Site Manager to plan, schedule, and coordinate site activities.

• Track the progress of fit out and finishes works against the project programme and help resolve delays or issues.
• Keep accurate records covering materials, subcontractor activity, inspections, and completed work.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and material schedules to ensure work aligns with project scope.
• Monitor and report variations or scope changes to the Project Manager.
• Coordinate subcontractors across fit out and finishes trades to support timely delivery and installation.
• Attend site meetings and inspections focused on joinery, flooring, finishes, and related packages.
• Confirm that subcontractors are meeting safety, quality, and programme requirements.
• Inspect completed work to make sure it matches specifications, design intent, and quality expectations.
• Identify and follow up defects in fit out elements such as flooring, cabinetry, and other finishes.
• Ensure all activities comply with building codes, project requirements, and DCOH safety systems.
• Carry out safety checks and audits, including compliance with SWMS and safe work practices.
• Maintain site documentation such as checklists, coordination logs, and quality records.
• Work with consultants, designers, and subcontractors to solve design and access issues.
• Build productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture and represent DCOH professionally.
