Role Overview
The company is looking for a Senior Executive - Materials Management based in Chengalpattu to manage domestic sourcing and procurement for key commodities. The role centers on ensuring uninterrupted material availability, maintaining supplier performance, and supporting cost-effective purchasing for production and project needs.
Key Commodities
This position will handle sourcing for commodities such as aluminium die casting, forgings, machining items, steel, iron castings, turned components, plastics, and related materials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee procurement for domestic vendors so materials are sourced on time and available as per production and project timelines.
- Run the RFQ cycle, review supplier quotes, evaluate commercial terms, raise purchase orders, and track order execution for the assigned commodity basket.
- Check supplier delivery performance regularly and follow up to keep commitments aligned with schedules and customer expectations.
- Assist in identifying, evaluating, developing, and onboarding suppliers while meeting Quality, Cost, and Delivery goals.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Stores, and Finance teams to keep procurement activities running smoothly.
- Contribute to cost reduction through negotiations, alternate sourcing, value engineering, and localization initiatives.
- Keep procurement documents, supplier master data, purchase reports, and MIS dashboards updated for management review.
- Work through supplier issues related to quality, delayed deliveries, pricing mismatches, and supply continuity in coordination with relevant teams.
- Follow internal procurement policies, contract conditions, and documentation requirements at all times.
Candidate Profile
- The role calls for 3 to 5 years of experience in domestic purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain roles within automotive, auto components, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
- A solid grasp of procurement workflows, supplier management, sourcing approaches, and commercial negotiation is important.
- Prior exposure to casting, forging, machining, or automotive component manufacturing will be advantageous.
- Experience with supplier development, vendor rating, and performance tracking methods is preferred.
- Working knowledge of ERP platforms, especially SAP, along with procurement paperwork and purchase MIS reporting, is desirable.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability with a focus on cost reduction and supply chain efficiency are needed.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work well with suppliers and internal teams, are essential.
- The candidate should be comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-moving manufacturing setup.
- A proactive, self-driven approach toward vendor management, delivery discipline, and continuous improvement is expected.
Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any specialization.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chengalpattu, India. The compensation mentioned for this position is INR 5,00,000 to INR 6,00,000 per year.
