The role
This is a site-based, full-time opportunity to join the operational team as a Rostering & Staffing Specialist at a care home in Tweed Heads West, New South Wales. Reporting to the General Manager, the role is central to managing staffing across day, afternoon and night shifts so the home can operate smoothly for residents, families and visiting health professionals. You will work in a busy, dynamic and supportive environment where professionalism, service quality and efficient processes are highly valued.
Core responsibilities
- Manage daily master rosters, including shift coverage, backfilling, and arranging new shifts across direct employees, contractors and labour-hire staff.
- Work closely with the corporate workforce optimisation team to keep rostering data accurate and current, supporting forecasting and better resource planning.
- Coordinate fortnightly allocations, roster amendments, extra shift opportunities and site communication so that all shifts are filled with appropriate back-up coverage.
- Oversee training and user access for the timekeeping system, and assist with related troubleshooting.
- Handle rostering information with discretion and follow company policy and code-of-conduct requirements.
- Partner with site leadership to maintain full operational coverage in a 24/7 facility and resolve staffing gaps quickly, including casual backup arrangements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on process, staff engagement, experience and systems performance.
What you will bring
This role calls for substantial rostering experience across direct staff, contractors and labour-hire teams. You should be comfortable acting as the key point of contact for operational teams and ensuring staff receive the correct roster information to perform their work. The environment is fast moving, so the ability to stay calm under pressure while managing multiple priorities is important. Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence dealing with people by phone, email and in person are essential. Experience with online shift bidding or extra-shift tools is considered an advantage. You should either hold a valid NDIS clearance or be willing to obtain one to work in the facility. Experience working with broader rostering teams and senior site administrators will help you improve staffing outcomes and maintain operational stability.
