Role overview
This position is focused on keeping shoppers, employees, and merchandise safe while maintaining a secure and welcoming retail setting. The role combines strong security awareness with a customer-friendly approach, and requires quick, calm action when incidents occur.
Working pattern
You will be scheduled on a 4-on, 4-off rotation. Typical hours are Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00 and Sunday from 08:00 to 19:00.
What you will do
- Maintain a clear security presence in the store to discourage theft and disruptive behaviour.
- Carry out routine checks around the premises to help keep the site safe.
- Watch CCTV and related security systems for any unusual or suspicious activity.
- Search individuals when needed, following company rules and procedures.
- React quickly to alarms and incidents, escalating matters to store leadership or police where appropriate.
- Record incidents and observations clearly and accurately.
- Work closely with store managers and team members to resolve security concerns or emerging risks.
- Greet customers, staff, and visitors in a professional and approachable manner.
- Help customers with directions or general questions when required.
- Defuse tense or confrontational situations in a controlled and professional way.
- Follow all site rules, company policies, and legal requirements.
- Support the wider security team and take on additional duties requested by the Site Supervisor or Security Manager.
