Overview
Empire Life is hiring a Project Manager for its Project Management Office team. In this role, you will lead key projects from start to finish, making sure they support business goals and are delivered effectively with limited day-to-day supervision.
The total target compensation for this position, including base pay and target bonus, is $95,920 to $144,970. This compensation range applies only to permanent roles. Fixed-term contract and casual positions are not eligible for an annual bonus and would receive base salary only.

What you will do
You will coordinate projects across their full lifecycle, including initiation, planning, analysis, design, execution, implementation, and closure. Your work will involve setting project direction, organizing resources, managing timelines and budgets, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the process.
Project management duties
- Work with senior leaders and stakeholders to shape project scope, objectives, and deliverables that align with business needs.
- Break down projects into tasks and define the resources required to complete them.
- Partner with resource managers in IT and other functions to secure project support and assign work to team members.
- Guide, coach, and support project team members throughout delivery.
- Build and maintain project budgets, including regular tracking and reporting of expenses.
- Plan schedules, monitor milestones, and follow progress using suitable project tools.
- Prepare project plans and supporting communications.
- Share regular status updates with all relevant stakeholders.
- Address issues that can be handled within the project team and escalate larger or more complex concerns when needed.
- Map dependencies and manage the critical path.
- Spot project risks early and put mitigation actions in place to reduce exposure.
- Apply the appropriate project management methods, processes, and standards.
- Manage changes to scope, budget, or timelines according to change control practices.
- Set success measures for the project and keep expectations aligned with stakeholders and team members.
- Run post-implementation reviews to identify what worked well and what did not.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience leading large and complex business transformation or IT initiatives, typically supported by at least 3 years of progressive project management experience. You should be comfortable working with multiple methodologies and tools, collaborating across levels of the organization, and influencing outcomes through clear communication and relationship building.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience managing large, complex business transformation or IT projects, usually backed by at least 3 years of progressive project management experience.
- Working knowledge of project management approaches and delivery practices such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
- Familiarity with tools such as Smartsheet, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Ability to work across different platforms, architectures, programming languages, and modern development toolkits.
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams and drive change through innovation and process improvement.
- Experience developing relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Comfort leading discussions and working with senior leaders.
- Self-directed mindset with the resilience to work independently, set priorities, and guide plans.
- Consulting experience or strong stakeholder engagement skills, including active listening and clarifying business needs.
- Strong presentation ability.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
- A university degree or college diploma in Business, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- PMP certification is considered an advantage.
- English fluency is required for roles open to applicants across Canada, unless stated otherwise.
