Role overview
An experienced mechanical project lead is required to oversee large-scale Oil & Gas construction work in Saudi Arabia. The position focuses on end-to-end project delivery across planning, execution, coordination, safety, quality, cost control, and final handover within schedule and budget.
Key responsibilities
- Steer mechanical construction assignments from project launch through commissioning and closeout.
- Build and manage project schedules, budgets, manpower plans, and other resource requirements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to keep execution on track.
- Track progress against milestones and make sure delivery stays aligned with the approved timeline.
- Supervise mechanical works such as piping, static machinery, rotating equipment, steel structures, and plant setup.
- Maintain compliance with technical specifications, applicable international codes, and customer requirements.
- Drive HSE implementation and reinforce a strong safety-first culture across the site.
- Assess and endorse drawings, method statements, execution procedures, and status reports.
- Spot project risks early and put practical mitigation measures in place.
- Oversee commercial matters including project cost, change orders, claims, and variations.
- Run periodic review meetings and present clear progress updates to senior leadership.
- Support testing, commissioning, completion, and formal project handover.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
- PMP certification is an added advantage.
- 12 to 15 years of professional experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, or EPC environments is required.
- At least 5 years should have been spent in a Project Manager capacity.
- Hands-on understanding of mechanical construction, piping, equipment erection, and commissioning is essential.
- Exposure to Saudi Aramco, SABIC, ADNOC, or similar major Oil & Gas assignments is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project is expected.
- Strong ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, and manage stakeholders is important.
