Overview
An opportunity is available for a senior Project Director to take charge of large-scale data centre construction projects in Frankfurt, Germany. The role sits with a leading technical engineering and construction partner known for delivering complex, high-value turnkey projects across data centres in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
The business has built a reputation for technical strength, innovation and successful delivery of mission-critical facilities. As the European operation expands, it is looking for an experienced leader to guide major data centre schemes through the full project lifecycle.
Role summary
In this position, you will oversee every major aspect of project delivery, including commercial outcomes, programme performance, quality, safety and client satisfaction. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with stakeholders and ensure work is completed safely, profitably and to a very high standard.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the successful execution of major data centre construction projects.
- Set the overall direction for project teams from pre-construction through to handover.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Own project budgets and commercial performance.
- Manage variations, final accounts and extension-of-time matters.
- Support delivery of financial objectives and project profitability.
- Oversee planning, project controls and programme management.
- Promote value engineering and ongoing improvement during delivery.
- Ensure strong governance, reporting and project discipline.
- Lead, coach and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Encourage collaboration across internal functions and supply chain partners.
- Support succession planning and professional growth within project teams.
- Drive a positive health and safety culture across all activities.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, legislation and company procedures.
- Advocate best practice throughout project execution.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced construction leader who has delivered major projects in demanding environments. This position suits someone with strong leadership, commercial awareness and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
Experience and requirements
- Substantial experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager on large construction projects.
- Strong track record on data centres, mission-critical facilities, pharmaceutical projects, industrial builds or similar complex work.
- Solid experience in commercial and contractual management.
- Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication, leadership and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated history of delivering projects safely, on schedule and within budget.
