Role overview

Sunday Riley is looking for an organized, technically strong Production Designer to join its Creative team. This role focuses on turning creative ideas into polished, production-ready materials for visual merchandising, marketing, digital, print, and brand projects. Visual merchandising is an important part of the work, but the position also supports the wider Creative team with final file prep, image retouching, asset resizing, adaptation across formats, and quality control across all channels.

The right person will have deep experience converting concepts into production-ready deliverables and believable 3D retail visualizations. You should be comfortable building retail spaces in SketchUp, preparing artwork for print, retouching photography, creating versions of assets, keeping files neatly organized, and working with designers, marketers, and vendors to deliver high-quality creative output.

This position partners closely with the Creative Director, Trade Marketing, and cross-functional teams to help execute premium creative across retail, events, digital, and brand marketing.

Working details

This is a fully remote role for candidates based in the United States. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM CST. The role reports to the Art Director. Occasional travel of about 10% to 20% may be needed for retailer meetings, store visits, vendor reviews, trade shows, photo shoots, and quarterly company events.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a core production design resource for the Creative team across print, digital, retail, visual merchandising, events, and marketing materials.
  • Prepare and finalize production-ready files while protecting Sunday Riley’s brand standards and technical accuracy.
  • Retouch images, clean up visuals, improve resolution, apply color correction, and optimize files for print, digital, retail, and presentation use.
  • Resize, modify, and create multiple versions of creative assets for different retailers, channels, markets, campaigns, and formats.
  • Support campaigns, presentations, social graphics, email visuals, packaging updates, sales collateral, event materials, and related creative needs.
  • Build production artwork for permanent retail fixtures, gondolas, endcaps, towers, tester units, merchandising displays, promotional installations, and other retail-facing materials.
  • Create accurate SketchUp models and polished 3D renderings for fixtures, store environments, window displays, and merchandising ideas.
  • Develop technical layouts, elevations, and presentation renderings for internal reviews, retailer approvals, and fabrication teams.
  • Partner with the Creative Director to turn concepts into manufacturable retail assets and final files without losing design intent.
  • Design artwork for quarterly events, including signage, branded collateral, event graphics, environmental branding, display pieces, presentation visuals, and print support materials.
  • Create seasonal windows, pop-ups, promotional displays, in-store animations, and experiential retail activations.
  • Build print-ready mechanicals and final files that follow retailer requirements, fabrication specifications, marketing needs, and production standards.
  • Work with Trade Marketing and Project Management on seasonal launches and retailer-specific merchandising programs.
  • Adapt creative for domestic and international retail partners, including changes for language, region, format, and production requirements.
  • Review proofs, dielines, color proofs, vendor samples, and final files to confirm accuracy before manufacturing, release, or distribution.
  • Keep production files, version control, linked assets, archives, and creative libraries well organized for future revisions and reprints.
  • Coordinate with fabricators, printers, retouchers, production vendors, and other partners to resolve technical questions and support execution.
  • Assist with store surveys, retail photography reviews, merchandising audits, competitive research, and creative asset organization as needed.
  • Stay informed on retail design trends, fabrication methods, image production tools, sustainable materials, and visual merchandising best practices.
  • Provide flexible production support wherever needed to ensure creative concepts are delivered accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Industrial Design, Visual Merchandising, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in design, production design, retail production, visual merchandising, environmental graphics, or creative production support.
  • Strong command of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Advanced Photoshop skills for retouching, cleanup, color correction, compositing support, image optimization, and upscaling.
  • Experience creating production files for both print and digital marketing work.
  • Solid understanding of resolution, image optimization, file preparation, prepress standards, and artwork quality control.
  • Advanced SketchUp skills with experience building production models and presentation-quality 3D renderings.
  • Experience using rendering tools such as V-Ray, Enscape, or similar software is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of retail fixture construction, fabrication methods, print production, and material specifications.
  • Experience preparing mechanical artwork, dielines, large-format graphics, and final vendor- or retailer-ready files.
  • Ability to read retailer specs, fabrication drawings, and production requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail, plus strong organization and project management abilities.
  • Comfort managing several production requests at once in a busy, cross-functional creative environment.
  • Experience working under multiple deadlines in a fast-moving setting.
  • Background in beauty, skincare, cosmetics, luxury retail, or CPG is strongly preferred.
