Stellenbeschreibung
Role overview
HMP Full Sutton is hiring an Operational Support Grade to help keep daily prison operations running safely and efficiently. This is an active, varied role that blends desk-based duties with hands-on work such as security checks at the gate, handling deliveries, supervising visits, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV.
What the job involves
You will be part of a team that supports essential operational activity across the prison. The work can include searches, escorting vehicles across the site, and other physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and walking around the prison grounds.
Working arrangements and travel
This role includes a range of shifts, with weekends and night shifts as part of the rota. Shift start and finish times are fixed, so you must be able to travel to and from work on time. The prison is in a rural area where public transport may be limited, so having a driving licence and your own transport can help, although it is not mandatory unless specifically stated for the vacancy.
What kind of person fits this role
No formal qualifications are needed. The ideal candidate will communicate well, stay composed under pressure, use sound judgment, and work effectively as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
Career development
This position offers practical experience of how a prison operates and can open pathways into other prison roles, including the opportunity to progress through the OSG to Prison Officer conversion scheme.
Training and benefits
You will receive training and have access to development opportunities. In addition to base pay, the role includes paid leave, public holidays, apprenticeship access, and Civil Service employee benefits.
Additional information
Annual salary is £29,432.
- 25 days of annual leave on joining, rising to 30 days after 10 years of service, calculated pro rata
- 9 bank, public and privilege holidays
- Access to a paid Level 2 apprenticeship in customer service
- Access to the Civil Service pension scheme
- Season ticket loans
- Retail discounts
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Cycle to Work scheme
