Role overview
Glenorchy City Council is looking for two dependable, safety-focused Multi-Skilled Labourers to support stormwater, road, drainage, and broader civil infrastructure maintenance and construction work in the Glenorchy area.
This position is hands-on and varied, combining plant operation with general labouring duties. You’ll be involved in tasks such as earthworks, concreting, and pipe laying, while also helping keep worksites safe, organised, and compliant with traffic management and workplace safety requirements.
What you’ll do
- Operate plant and equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Carry out labouring duties including earthworks, concreting, pipe laying, and related civil works.
- Read and interpret plans and work instructions accurately.
- Keep clear and accurate records of work completed.
- Support safe and effective traffic management on active worksites.
- Work with asphalt, concrete, formwork, and small plant equipment.
- Follow workplace health and safety standards at all times.
- Contribute as a team member in a physically demanding role that requires working outdoors in all weather.
- Adapt to changing priorities and maintain a positive, collaborative approach.
Essential requirements
- Certificate III in Civil Construction, or at least 2 years’ recent experience in civil construction.
- Current MR class driver’s licence.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
- Traffic management accreditation, including RIIWHS205E Control traffic with a stop-slow bat and RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans.
Desirable experience
A current licence to operate rigid vehicles is considered an advantage, along with proven ability to work to line and grade.
Position details
- Full-time role.
- 76 hours per fortnight.
- Annual salary of $65,412.
