Role overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced band 5 or current band 6 physiotherapist who is enthusiastic about delivering excellent patient care within musculoskeletal services. This 6-month secondment sits within a collaborative team made up of physiotherapists, clinical specialists, advanced physiotherapy practitioners and FCPs.
You will be joining a welcoming and supportive environment with strong development opportunities designed to help strengthen your skills and progress your MSK career. The role includes access to MSK taster rotations such as gym team, rheumatology and pain management. More experienced band 6 candidates may also become involved in Clinical Governance work and contribute to the MSK assessment service and FCP team.
Ongoing supervision and guidance will be provided by senior MSK physiotherapists, with additional access to Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners across the wider MSK service.
Key duties
- Carry out thorough assessments, either remotely or in person, for patients referred by GPs and hospital consultants.
- Create, apply and adapt personalised treatment plans using a patient-centred approach that focuses on “What matters to You?”.
- Encourage self-management and healthy lifestyle changes, including referrals to relevant support services where needed.
- Take responsibility for your own caseload, including people with complex needs, with training provided in any areas requiring further development.
- Support team leaders in making sure junior staff understand their duties and accountability.
- Provide training and supervision to junior colleagues and students.
- Review and assess treatment plans to achieve the best possible patient outcomes and benefit.
