Role overview

An opening is available for a Mill Cleaner at the Preston Mill site. The mill runs continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so the rota is designed to support that operation. From time to time, extra flexibility may be needed to cover absence or holidays, and any overtime worked for these reasons will be paid.

The main working pattern for this position is Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, although some flexibility may be required.

Key duties

• Work closely with the mill shift teams to keep all areas of the mill clean and well maintained.
• Carry out routine checks across the mill and flag any issues that do not meet required quality or safety standards.
• Use a range of cleaning equipment, including brushes, shovels, wheelbarrows, portable and central vacuum systems, and a jet wash.
• Coordinate cleaning tasks with the mill team according to schedule.
• Report any leaks to the maintenance team.
• Complete work safely and in line with health and safety expectations.

Skills and experience

A basic understanding of COSHH would be helpful. Experience with forklift trucks would also be an advantage. The company is looking for someone practical, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a small, motivated team. Good interpersonal skills are important, along with a willingness to broaden experience across other areas of the business.

Full training and support will be provided to close any knowledge gaps and help the successful candidate develop their career skills.

Applicants should be able to live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Preston site and should be suited to a workplace where teamwork, safety, and reliability are central.
