Job Purpose
The role is responsible for handling current process input and output controls, understanding data needs, and translating business requirements into clear analysis and specification documents. It also covers ownership of enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence technologies. The position works closely with business teams to manage and maintain the data and database environment that supports ongoing information needs across the organization.
This includes shaping and sustaining the enterprise information strategy, data structures, and databases that back application and reporting platforms. The manager must also balance priorities between project delivery, database and model upkeep, and wider enterprise architecture initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver practical and cost-effective solutions to business and user needs.
- Track unit performance and measure results against relevant KPIs.
- Apply best practices and performance indicators for MIS business analysis.
- Encourage cost awareness, efficiency, and productivity to reduce waste and improve value for the bank.
- Operate strictly within the scope of delegated authority.
- Engage with users across departments to gather, clarify, and document requirements before proposing solutions.
- Support internal customers with queries related to bank products and related requests.
- Maintain service levels with internal departments to improve turnaround time.
- Build strong working relationships with relevant teams to support group objectives.
- Provide accurate and timely information to internal and external auditors, compliance, financial control, and risk teams when needed.
- Oversee the implementation of development lifecycle policies, standards, and guidelines for system design, selection, development, and maintenance.
- Review and recommend solutions that address business requirements with the most appropriate systems.
- Advise on whether systems should continue in live operation or be retired, in line with IT architecture and business strategy.
- Prioritize tasks according to business plans, urgency, and operational constraints.
- Lead documentation efforts and maintain system standards, activity records, and user guides in line with documentation policy.
- Ensure the team follows current standards, control objectives, and best practices.
- Develop a strong understanding of user needs and existing structures to improve systems or introduce new ones.
- Use knowledge of system architecture and limitations to choose solutions that fit available resources and delivery timelines.
- Run regular departmental meetings to review progress, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Continuously identify personal development needs and pursue learning opportunities to stay up to date in the profession.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
- At least 6 years of experience in financial services is needed.
- Experience should include specialization in web or mobile application development.
- Ability to analyze business needs and convert them into structured specifications.
- Knowledge of enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence environments.
- Familiarity with system architecture, lifecycle standards, and documentation practices.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities across projects, maintenance, and architecture work.
