Role overview

Reporting to the Senior Facility Manager, this position supports operations and maintenance activities in a 24/7/365 environment. The role sits within the O&M team and helps ensure the building and related spaces remain clean, organized, and operational with minimal disruption to production.

As the Maintenance Planner & Scheduler, you will coordinate the preparation, timing, and delivery of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work. A key part of the job is aligning resources, materials, and teams so scheduled work can be completed efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned duties for data center operations and any additional non-data-center areas under the Senior Facility Manager’s direction.
  • Prepare and schedule work orders so all planned tasks are ready before execution begins.
  • Keep communication flowing clearly and consistently among Management, Operations, and Engineering.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, and customers to ensure maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
  • Oversee both detailed and high-level planning for materials, projects, and execution.
  • Support the planning and scheduling of capital projects.
  • Track spare parts inventory and coordinate sourcing and purchasing when needed.
  • Administer the CMMS so work is scheduled properly and resources are available at the start of each job, including closure and review of work orders with notes on personnel, parts used, labor hours, and completed work details.
  • Review, update, and develop SOPs and job/work plans for maintenance-related activities.
  • Schedule major and minor site outages, including maintenance shutdowns, while reducing operational impact.
  • Create, manage, communicate, and carry out maintenance plans and master schedules to make the best use of materials, time, labor, and capacity.
  • Coordinate maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to plan and schedule all maintenance work with minimal effect on throughput.
  • Lead root-cause reviews for reactive maintenance issues and help implement solutions to reduce repeat failures.
  • Support a safety-focused maintenance culture and contribute to quality and environmental efforts on site.
  • Assess resource needs and arrange contractor support when internal labor or skill availability is not sufficient.
  • Build and maintain detailed operating procedures for maintenance tasks and support documentation control.
  • Move equipment and supplies when required.
  • Alert management when major repairs or building system additions are needed.

Experience and qualifications

The role requires someone who can perform the duties successfully with strong attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision. The following background is needed or preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED required; an advanced technical or maintenance-related degree or certification is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in industrial, data center, or a similar environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance and supervisory experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a maintenance planner/scheduler.
  • Working knowledge of change management processes, work order control procedures, and CMMS tools.
  • Familiarity with plant equipment such as control systems, pumps, piping, heat exchangers, vessels, and instrumentation.
  • Hands-on understanding of equipment maintenance and repair to support daily planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Knowledge of Visio and AutoCAD is an advantage.
  • Self-driven work style with strong initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.

Work environment

  • Fast-moving workplace where periods of stress may occur.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Availability for after-hours work is necessary.
