Role Summary

This shop labour position is based onsite in Sparwood, British Columbia. It is a hands-on industrial role for someone who enjoys practical work, learning from experienced tradespeople, and helping keep heavy equipment operations moving. The schedule offers a 7x7 rotation with 12-hour shifts, meaning half the year off. The role reports to the Supervisor, Welding Shop.

What You'll Do

• Keep shop operations organized by arranging materials, tools, and equipment.
• Arrange vehicle maintenance and complete shop checklists.
• Assist journeyman welders, mechanics, and machinists with daily work.
• Transport machinery, tools, and products to the correct areas within the shop.
• Perform general labour work in an industrial setting.
• Prepare parts for painting and support sandblasting and painting tasks.
• Use hand tools and carry out basic fabrication and assembly work.
• Deliver parts or components to nearby mine sites when needed.
• Step into additional duties as assigned, with tasks varying from day to day.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in manufacturing, oil and gas, or mining environments.
• Valid driver’s licence and dependable transportation.
• Strong work ethic and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Safety-focused mindset.
• Experience with welding, grinding, or carpentry is considered an advantage.
• OSSA, CSTS, or First Aid certification is an asset.
• Interest in long-term growth, including possible progression into trades roles.

Work Conditions

The position is safety sensitive. Employment requires drug and alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, an RCMP criminal record check, and submission of a 5-year provincial driving record. Travel may be required for up to 25% of the time within Canada. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting base wage is $34.05 per hour. A full compensation discussion will take place during the initial pre-screen.
