Role overview

Octapharma Plasma is expanding quickly and is looking for a Laboratory Assistant 1 for a Monday through Friday schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM in Charlotte, NC. Key duties

  • Accept, open, and sort whole blood, plasma, and serum samples along with the associated documentation, then address any mismatches or missing information.
  • Check specimens for suitability and prepare rejection notifications when samples do not meet requirements.
  • Separate out samples that need laboratory testing and route them appropriately.
  • Enter required information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Carry out specimen processing tasks such as centrifuging, aliquoting, and measuring sample volumes.
  • Support Laboratory Operations and Quality Assurance by helping with corrective and preventive action activities.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and releasing test reagents, supplies, consumables, and raw materials.
  • Help gather information used to track and trend key performance indicators.
  • Prepare samples for transfer to external laboratories.
  • Maintain control of sample inventory in freezers and refrigerators, keeping it organized and current.

Required background

  • At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Comfort with basic arithmetic, reading, and written communication is needed.
  • The ability to interpret SOPs, labels, and safety signage is required.
