Role Overview
The Kitchen and Refrigeration Technician is tasked with keeping the hotel’s kitchen, laundry, and related appliances operating safely and efficiently. The role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive care so equipment remains in excellent working order.
About the Property
Located in Abu Dhabi’s Nation Tower on Corniche, this luxury hotel combines Arabian hospitality with the long-standing St. Regis tradition of refined service. The property features 283 guest rooms, including 55 suites, and is known for its elevated views and iconic hospitality standards.
Key Duties
- Join the daily team briefing and coordinate with the engineering team.
- Carry out both major and minor repairs on kitchen and refrigeration systems, as well as laundry machinery.
- Complete preventive and corrective maintenance on all kitchen and laundry equipment and keep proper records of the work carried out.
- Ensure gas-powered and electrical appliances are maintained to a high standard.
- Confirm that kitchen and laundry equipment remains in safe, reliable, and usable condition.
- Prioritize repair requests to reduce equipment downtime and complete fixes promptly.
- Support troubleshooting and maintenance work in restaurants, back-of-house areas, kitchens, laundry spaces, and other hotel locations.
- Monitor compliance with HACCP and hygiene requirements through routine checks.
- Maintain lighting in the kitchen, laundry, cold rooms, refrigerators, and related areas.
- Record daily work progress and follow-ups in the logbook.
- Take on additional duties when assigned by management or the supervisor.
- Work flexible shifts as required.
- Support other technicians or sections when needed, especially electrical work.
- Assist the Duty Engineer with stocking essential consumables and workshop supplies.
- Order and track spare parts inventory for equipment as needed.
- Participate in training for newly introduced equipment.
- Train team members on safe handling and proper operation of equipment.
- Inspect commercial kitchen appliances and verify their safe operation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Kitchen Technician.
- Prior experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to carry out preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks across kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Comfortable working assigned shifts and collaborating with other engineering team members.
