Role overview
Hove Village Day Nursery is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support its nursery kitchen operation. This position is a good match for someone with prior experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Kitchen Porter, or Chef.
What you’ll need
The ideal candidate should already hold a minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification and have worked previously in a busy kitchen environment. A working understanding of allergens and special dietary needs is important, along with clear verbal and written communication skills. You should be comfortable working as part of a team and bring patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting young children. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred, and knowledge of childcare-related legislation and safeguarding is also desirable.
What the job involves
- Support the kitchen team in preparing healthy meals for children aged 0-5.
- Help with lunch service in the rooms and with food-related activities that keep children engaged.
- Contribute to a safe, caring, and positive environment for children.
- Work alongside colleagues to meet the individual needs of children.
- Keep the kitchen clean, orderly, and well cared for throughout the day.
- Follow health and safety procedures to protect children and staff.
