Role Summary
This full-time, on-site Junior Tester position is based in the Washington DC–Baltimore Area. The role centers on running test cases, recording results, and contributing to the overall quality assurance effort across software projects. The tester will help spot defects, document issues, retest fixes, and work closely with developers, business analysts, and senior QA professionals to confirm that products align with functional and technical expectations.
What You Will Do
- Execute assigned test cases and log the outcomes clearly and accurately.
- Support defect identification, tracking, verification, and retesting activities.
- Review requirements and specifications to build simple test scenarios and checklists.
- Take part in test planning and provide feedback on software quality.
- Collaborate with development, business, and QA teams during the testing cycle.
- Use company tools, standards, and testing practices while continuing to learn and improve.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of software testing, including test design, execution, and defect reporting.
- Ability to interpret requirements and convert them into straightforward test cases or checklists.
- Familiarity with the software development life cycle and QA workflows.
- Comfort using spreadsheets, issue trackers, and documentation or collaboration tools.
- Strong focus on accuracy, detail, and structured documentation.
- Good written and verbal communication for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn quickly, follow guidance, and contribute both independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Interest in a long-term career in software testing and quality assurance.
- Prior internship, academic project, or coursework in testing is advantageous.
- Exposure to IT consulting or client-facing work is helpful but not mandatory.
