About the Role

PHW Group is hiring an IT Desktop Support Specialist to join its internal IT team in Michigan, United States. In this position, you will be the main contact for employee technical support, helping resolve issues with hardware, software, and everyday workplace tools. The role focuses on keeping Google Workspace, Windows, and macOS environments running reliably while also supporting setup, troubleshooting, and account administration.

This opportunity is a strong fit for someone who picks up new systems quickly, stays organized when several requests are active at once, and follows issues through to resolution.

What You Will Do

  • Watch system health and incoming user issues proactively so potential problems are addressed before they disrupt work.
  • Deliver first-line helpdesk support for Windows and macOS desktops and laptops.
  • Prepare Google Workspace tools such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Meet, along with Windows and macOS devices, for new employees to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Create and remove user accounts as employees join or exit, handling routine account setup and cleanup tasks.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software on Windows and macOS machines.
  • Diagnose and fix hardware problems involving printers, monitors, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
  • Act as the initial contact for network and connectivity issues, escalating more complex matters to the wider IT team when needed.
  • Apply security updates and routine patches to keep systems protected and up to date.
  • Check backup jobs each day, investigate failures, and support data recovery when required.
  • Log, prioritize, and manage support tickets while also keeping the IT knowledge base current with configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

  • 0 to 24 months of experience in an IT support or helpdesk position.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Familiarity with macOS is highly preferred, and exposure to Linux is also desirable.
  • Experience supporting iOS and Android devices is an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace administration and Microsoft 365 is a major plus.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • CompTIA A+ or a similar certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong accountability, ownership, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback.
  • A high-integrity, patient, friendly, and energetic approach to working with users.

Ideal Candidate

The role is well suited to someone who enjoys technology, takes pride in solving technical problems, and is comfortable supporting people in a calm and professional way.
