Role overview

You will work from home while carrying out inspections across Eastern Switzerland, covering GL, SG, TG, and AI/AR. The position is offered at 80–100% workload.

Main duties

• Accept and inspect electrical systems that are subject to approval.
• Assess electrical installations from a safety perspective.
• Monitor and inspect grid operators, industrial businesses, and large commercial enterprises.
• Oversee and support inspection bodies.
• Provide technical guidance on electrical installations.
• Act as an examination expert for limited installation authorisations.

Profile and qualifications

• Completed training as a federally certified electrical installer or as a higher technical college / technical college graduate in electrical engineering with competence according to NIV.
• Experience in the design, review, and inspection of electrical installations and systems.
• Knowledge of medium-voltage and high-voltage systems is an advantage.
• Reliable, precise, and assertive working style.
• Enjoy working independently and taking responsibility.

About the employer

The Swiss Federal Starkstrom Inspectorate (ESTI) is the supervisory and control authority for electrical installations that are not under the Federal Office of Transport. It ensures that these systems are planned, built, and maintained safely and with due regard for the environment. Its scope includes high-voltage systems, low-voltage installations, and weak-current systems. In addition, under a federal service mandate, ESTI is responsible for market surveillance of electrical products. Together with Suva, it also investigates accidents related to electrical installations.
