Role overview
Brenntag is hiring an Import/Export Coordinator to manage the movement of goods across air, sea, and road routes. The role focuses on keeping shipments compliant, efficient, and cost-conscious while handling the documentation, customs coordination, and administrative work needed for international trade.
What you will do
- Organize inbound and outbound logistics across air, sea, and road transport in line with trade rules and company procedures.
- Handle the administrative side of imports and exports, including shipping paperwork and customs requirements.
- Work with freight forwarders, transport companies, suppliers, and customers to help ensure on-time delivery.
- Track shipments and address logistics or customs issues before they cause delays.
- Prepare and process commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and related trade documents accurately.
- Coordinate with third-party customs clearing agents and provide instructions when needed.
- Keep shipment and logistics records up to date in ERP and logistics systems.
- Ensure compliance with import/export laws, hazardous goods rules, and internal company policies.
- Monitor freight spend and contribute ideas to improve transport efficiency and logistics processes.
- Partner with Procurement, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Finance, and Sales teams to support day-to-day operations.
- Provide regular status updates, reports, and general administrative support to stakeholders.
- Follow the company’s Rules of Procedure, SOPs, and compliance standards at all times.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is highly organized, accurate, and comfortable managing multiple shipments in a busy supply chain environment. Strong knowledge of import/export workflows, trade documentation, and compliance is essential, along with the ability to coordinate smoothly with both internal teams and external partners.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in import/export coordination, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain administration.
- Hands-on experience managing international shipments by air, sea, rail, and road.
- Practical exposure to import/export documentation and customs processes.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs teams, and third-party logistics providers.
- Background in chemical distribution, manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial settings is an advantage.
- SAP or other ERP system experience is an added advantage.
Education
- Higher National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a similar field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- Additional training in import/export or customs compliance will be a plus.
