Role Summary

The Housekeeping Clerk supports the housekeeping function by helping ensure smooth daily operations, strong communication across teams, and consistently polished guest service. This position reports to the Director of Housekeeping and is expected to reflect the brand’s standard of luxury and professionalism in every interaction.

Key Duties

  • Deliver courteous, polished, and engaging service at all times.
  • Work in line with departmental procedures, policies, and service expectations.
  • Keep communication flowing effectively within housekeeping and with other departments.
  • Respond quickly to guest needs and make sure requests are followed through without delay.
  • Allocate room-related tasks to Room Attendants when needed.
  • Prepare turn-down sheets in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records for lost-and-found items, including inquiry tracking and shipping follow-up.
  • Manage the sign-out and sign-in process for room keys and maintain key inventory.
  • Keep the housekeeping office, back room, and exterior recycling area clean and organized.
  • Oversee the proper use, care, and supply of equipment, linens, and cleaning materials.
  • Identify maintenance issues and ensure repair follow-up for guest rooms and nearby areas.
  • Update room status information throughout the day and complete end-of-day status tracking with supervisors.
  • Help ensure the housekeeping department operates effectively during evening hours.
  • Follow hotel vehicle handling rules and safety procedures when driving hotel or guest vehicles.
  • Observe all safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Represent the Fairmont brand promise and luxury standard in daily work.
  • Help maintain a workplace where all colleagues feel respected and included.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Pay and Benefits

The starting hourly wage is $18.62. Full-time staff may receive subsidized on-site accommodation. Additional benefits include one complimentary meal per shift in the staff cafeteria, with extra meals available for $8 each.
