Key duties
This position is responsible for keeping shared and resident-facing spaces clean, organized, and safe. Work includes cleaning lobbies, hallways, stairwells, kitchens, and bathrooms; sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming; carrying out assigned common-area housekeeping tasks; collecting waste from resident rooms; recording completed routine tasks; supporting audits and inspections; providing resident laundry services when requested; updating the People Leader on supply needs; using cleaning supplies and equipment efficiently; restocking and cleaning the housekeeping cart; and following safe work practices, hazard reporting, personal protective equipment requirements, and safety training. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry, and a strong commitment to working efficiently in a warm, courteous, customer-service-focused way. Strong communication skills are important for dealing with internal and external customers. The role also calls for knowledge of infection prevention and control, ability to operate equipment such as an auto scrubber, floor buffer, and vacuum, comfort working independently with limited supervision, and the ability to use chemical cleaning products and equipment safely. Experience in seniors’ living is an advantage. Applicants must be able to provide a clear criminal record check on hire. A completed Dementia: Understanding the Journey course is considered an asset. Valid, current First Aid & CPR certification is also noted as a requirement, with a parenthetical instruction indicating it should be removed if not assisted living in NB.
