Role overview
Ingliston Estate & Country Club is hiring a groom to support its Stables Team on either a part-time or full-time basis. The team describes itself as a close-knit and enthusiastic group working together in a collaborative environment.
The stable yard cares for 69 horses across three livery arrangements: Assisted Livery, Upper DIY, and DIY.
Key duties
- Clean out stables and lay down fresh bedding
- Carry out daily grooming and clipping of horses
- Prepare and provide horse feed
- Turn horses out and bring them back in as needed
- Change rugs and related tack/blanketing
- Monitor general horse health and handle minor injuries
- Complete routine yard work, including sweeping the yard and checking fences
- Support stable tours
Candidate profile
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Solid practical knowledge of horse care and stable routines
- Awareness of common equine illnesses and basic first aid
- Strong customer-facing manner when dealing with livery clients and the public
- Adaptable and responsive to the horses’ needs
