Role Overview
Wilmar Sugar & Renewables is seeking a GMW Rigger to support safe rigging and scaffolding work across site operations at Proserpine Mill. This practical, hands-on position relies on strong technical know-how to deliver work safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Proserpine, Queensland. The site operates on a year-round day shift roster, and the position may involve weekend duties and overtime.
Outside work, the role is set in the Whitsunday region, known for its coastal lifestyle, beautiful beaches, tropical surroundings, and welcoming community. The location also provides access to the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform rigging and scaffolding duties across maintenance and operational work.
- Maintain scaffold registers and ensure equipment, inspection, and training records remain traceable and up to date.
- Oversee the tagging, identification, and management of equipment that is taken out of service for repair or replacement.
- Inspect, service, and test rigging equipment, and make sure any defects are reported and resolved quickly.
- Support plant maintenance tasks and assist trades staff and production teams when needed.
Requirements
- Current High Risk Work Licences for scaffolding, rigging, and dogging.
- Proven experience in an industrial or maintenance setting.
- Clear communication skills and a strong safety-focused mindset.
- Ability to organise and manage several tasks at the same time.
- Additional licences such as forklift, mobile crane, skid steer, gantry crane, or an HR licence will be considered an advantage.
Working Arrangements
This role is permanent and full-time, with a year-round day roster. Weekend work and overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
