Role summary
This full-time, on-site position in Accra is for a Field Technician focused on FTTH work. The role centers on installing, servicing, and repairing fiber optic connections for both residential and commercial sites.
What you will do
- Carry out FTTH installations at customer locations.
- Route, terminate, and organize cabling to required standards.
- Set up basic customer-side equipment and verify that it is working correctly.
- Test fiber connections to confirm performance, quality, and stability.
- Investigate faults, identify the cause of service problems, and restore connectivity.
- Record completed work accurately and keep documentation up to date.
- Explain installation steps, service updates, and simple equipment usage to customers in a clear way.
- Follow safety procedures while working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Work with the central operations team to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.
- Track materials, tools, and job completion details carefully.
Skills and qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and equipment issues quickly and effectively.
- Working knowledge of telecommunications systems, especially FTTH service environments.
- Understanding of telephony services for fiber-based voice support.
- Hands-on cabling ability, including fiber routing, termination, and cable management.
- Familiarity with fiber optic tools and testing instruments is an advantage.
- Basic network configuration knowledge is beneficial.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Capacity to work safely in field conditions.
- Prior field technician experience is preferred.
- A relevant technical diploma or certification in telecommunications, networking, or a similar field is preferred.
- A valid driver’s licence is essential.
