Role Overview

YO IT Consulting is seeking an English Language Expert for a remote contract assignment. In this hourly contractor role, you will review AI-produced English responses and, when needed, create expert-level language content. The work focuses on checking reasoning, refining step-by-step edits, and delivering clear, practical feedback that improves output quality.

You will judge responses for factual accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the prompt. The role also involves spotting mistakes in logic, meaning, method, or subject understanding; verifying facts where required; writing strong explanations and corrected versions that show the proper approach; and comparing multiple AI outputs based on correctness and reasoning strength.

This opportunity is part of a fast-growing AI data services environment supporting training data needs for major AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your language expertise will help make AI systems more accurate, natural sounding, and easier to understand. Please note that there is no active project at the moment; if you are a strong fit, you may be contacted first when suitable work becomes available through the expert network.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or above in Linguistics, English, Translation/Localization, Communications, Journalism, or a closely related discipline. The role calls for advanced English ability, with C2 or native-level fluency preferred and at least C1 proficiency required. Knowledge of an additional language at a professional level is a strong advantage.

Ideal candidates will have a solid grasp of grammar, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse structure, and style editing across different tones and registers. You should be highly detail-oriented, capable of spotting subtle shifts in meaning, ambiguity, inconsistencies, and other small errors, and able to explain corrections clearly in writing.

Experience using style guides and keeping terminology, tone, punctuation, and capitalization consistent is important. The work also requires a dependable, self-managed approach for an hourly remote contractor setup that may span time zones. Prior exposure to AI data training or annotation, editorial quality assurance, localization QA, or professional copyediting is strongly preferred. Hands-on familiarity with tools such as Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, and similar platforms is also expected.

Key Responsibilities

You will develop AI training content by writing detailed prompts on a range of topics and crafting responses that help train models to learn more effectively. You will also evaluate and rank AI-generated answers to improve accuracy, fluency, and relevance to context. In addition, you will test AI systems for errors or bias and help confirm that outputs remain dependable across different use cases.
