Stellenbeschreibung

About the role

Perkins & Will is a multidisciplinary design practice focused on public buildings and places such as recreation centres, libraries, academic environments, corporate and commercial developments, and transit projects. The studio brings together architects, interior designers, and urban designers, with a strong commitment to design quality and sustainability. Its work spans a wide range of scales and has earned recognition from national and international awards programs.

The firm creates environments that people value—spaces intended to support the social, economic, and environmental wellbeing of cities. Its approach is rooted in research and inventive thinking, with every project shaped by the relationship between communities, the built environment, and nature. Backed by local experience and a global network of studios in 25 cities, the practice continues to expand knowledge through research labs that inform creative and community-centered design solutions.

Role summary

The team is seeking Architects and Technologists who can work independently across the full building design process. This includes producing presentation material, supporting schematic design and design development, preparing contract documents, building models, creating renderings, and assisting with construction administration while staying within defined budgets, schedules, site conditions, and program needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop early design concepts and explore alternate solutions for review.
  • Create drawings for schematic design and design development stages.
  • Use creative judgment to prepare presentation materials such as sketches, renderings, physical or digital models, and graphics.
  • Work in line with the firm’s and project’s goals for design quality, delivery, and sustainability.
  • Prepare contract documentation, including details, sections, elevations, and schedules.
  • Draft amendments, addenda, and bulletins as needed.
  • Support the team with technical options and project adaptations for review.
  • Complete area calculations in accordance with required standards.
  • Carry out site analysis, including existing-condition surveys and field measurements.
  • Follow the Perkins and Will Project Delivery Manual in day-to-day work.
  • Plan and organize tasks to deliver assignments efficiently.
  • Review work carefully for accuracy, missing information, and readability.

Required qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
  • At least 4 years of experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience using Revit.
  • Experience with contract administration.
  • Exposure to all stages and aspects of project delivery is an advantage.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of project design and construction-document production.
  • Understanding of construction materials.
  • Ability to produce graphics and 3D visualizations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, collaborative work style.
  • Ability to move between construction sites when required.
  • LEED AP certification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of joining.
  • Comfort in an open, multidisciplinary, team-based setting.
  • Willingness to take part in collaborative design sessions.
  • Experience balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and community interests.
  • Strong organization and multitasking capabilities.
  • Energetic, self-driven attitude and eagerness to learn.

Work environment

The studio is located near many amenities and is accessible by bike, public transit, and car. It uses an open-concept layout that reflects the collaborative nature of the team. The current in-studio expectation is four days per week.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this role is CAD 70,000 to CAD 90,000 per year. The package also includes payment of association dues and professional development support, fitness and transit reimbursement, health and dental coverage, a group RRSP, and paid parental leave.

Application instructions

Applicants should submit a resume along with a concise, representative portfolio sample no larger than 6 MB. The employer also emphasizes its commitment to building an inclusive workplace that values people of diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences.

Inclusion statement

The organization states that creativity is strengthened by inclusion and that innovation grows from a culture with diverse people and ideas. It is committed to reducing barriers and stereotypes related to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, medical condition, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and veteran status, and to building a workforce that reflects the communities and clients it serves.
