Role Overview
The Design Head will lead a team of designers and take ownership of office interior projects from concept through execution. This role requires strong command over corporate interiors, material selection, service coordination, and site-level coordination. The person in this position should be capable of driving design direction independently while also collaborating with 3D visualizers, graphic designers, service consultants, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a design team on office interior assignments.
- Oversee creative and technical development for workplace interiors.
- Develop and present conceptual design ideas and facility presentations.
- Work closely with designers, 3D visualizers, graphic designers, and service consultants.
- Review site progress regularly to help maintain smooth project execution.
- Handle space planning for office projects using AutoCAD.
- Keep project timelines on track while protecting design quality.
- Stay updated on market materials, product options, and vendor availability.
- Coordinate with vendors and site teams during project delivery.
- Build team capability and support staff development.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project discussions.
- Carry out feasibility checks and define design requirements during the pre-design stage.
- Move projects through each phase without compromising budget, schedule, or quality.
- Prepare and review design documentation and team deliverables.
- Support client work sessions and presentations as required.
Requirements
- Strong background in office interior design, especially commercial workplace projects.
- Prior experience leading teams and coordinating with multiple project stakeholders.
- Hands-on exposure to site coordination and vendor management.
- Deep understanding of corporate interior design and material applications.
- Ability to manage design development from concept to completion.
- Excellent communication, presentation, sketching, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Comfort with working to deadlines while maintaining output quality.
- Knowledge of current materials and market vendors.
- Experience in client presentations and design discussions.
- Education: B.Arch required; M.Arch or a Master’s in Interior Design is also relevant.
- Technical knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, basic SketchUp, and Photoshop.
- Work experience of 5 to 9 years in commercial interior design projects.
- Co-working space experience is optional.
