Depot Manager

About the Role

Cycle Journeys is looking for an experienced leader to take charge of its Twizel depot and help oversee operations in Oamaru as well. This role sits at the centre of a well-established cycling tourism business, supporting a large seasonal workload and making sure guests have a smooth, high-quality experience from start to finish.

The company has been operating for over 15 years and is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading cycle tour specialists. It supports thousands of riders each season on the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail, with a focus on dependable service, quality bikes and equipment, and a strong team culture.

As Depot Manager, you will lead more than 40 full-time and part-time staff across both depots, manage day-to-day logistics, and contribute to senior-level decision-making as part of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO.

What the Role Involves

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for keeping depot operations running efficiently, coordinating people and resources, and ensuring service standards remain consistently high across a busy tourism season.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily running of the Twizel depot and support operations in Oamaru.
• Lead, guide, and coordinate a team of more than 40 permanent and seasonal employees.
• Plan and manage logistics so guests receive a seamless cycling experience.
• Use strong operational systems and processes to support efficient service delivery.
• Motivate staff, build capability, and help create a positive, high-performing workplace.
• Make timely decisions in a fast-moving environment.
• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to help influence the future direction of the business.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring solid leadership experience, a strong grasp of operations and logistics, and a genuine commitment to customer experience. You should be organised, confident, and able to lead teams in a setting where priorities can shift quickly.

Role Details

• Full-time seasonal position from September to May.
• Potential for continued employment through the winter months.
• Based in Twizel, in the Mackenzie Country area.
• Part of the Senior Leadership Team.
